Salt Lake City Teeming with Art, Music Festivals

As the summer season gets underway, Salt Lake City will soon be bustling with a wide range of art and music festivals. These are just a few of the many events taking place across the city in June.

  • Check out an amazing display of vibrant street murals during Utah Foster Care Foundation’s 15th Annual Chalk Art Festival, set for Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, from 10 am-7 pm at The Gateway, 18 N. Rio Grande Street, Salt Lake City. More than 100 artists will gather to create imaginative pieces of art on the streets of the city’s premier event mall. This year’s event also will include a “Kids Korner,” packed with art projects and other fun activities.
  • Listen and learn more about Blues music during the third Annual Utah Blues Festival on Saturday, June 17, from 11:30 am-10 pm at the Gallivan Center, 239 S. Main Street in downtown Salt Lake City. The festival, which is dedicated to increasing awareness of Blues music, showcases national and local Blues artists as well as up-and-coming youth musicians. General-admission tickets are $35.
  • The Utah Arts Festival, the state’s largest outdoor festival celebrating the fine arts and a multitude of other arts disciplines, takes place June 22-25 at Library Square in the heart of Salt Lake City. The festival features an artist marketplace, music and performing arts, film, street theater, literary arts. More than 160 visual artists and 100-plus performing artists are expected to participate.
