Meet Dan Nix, Winner of Utah’s President’s Award

Living and breathing real estate is one of Dan Nix’s many passions. An Independent Sales Associate of the Coldwell Banker Station Park office, Dan enjoys working in a profession he loves and doing it in a gorgeous, serene location. He is a veteran REALTOR® who knows the ins and outs of the real estate business and has been recognized for his strong work ethic and impressive sales throughout the years.

In addition to selling homes, another one of Dan’s passions is being active in the community.

He lost a sister to breast cancer in 2006 and since then has been a strong supporter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. He is a team leader for the Relay and has raised thousands of dollars over the years to help find a cure for cancer.

Dan also served as a Wish Granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Along with a Wish Partner, Dan arranged for a teen and his family to travel to Scotland to play golf on the “Old Course.”

And if that’s not enough, Dan can also add the Coldwell Banker Community Foundation to his impressive resume. He donates a portion of his commission check to the Foundation, which helps a wide range of people and families along the Wasatch Front every year.

Dan’s commitment to going above and beyond in his profession, and also for his community, is what makes him the perfect recipient to the coveted President’s Award, which recognizes a Coldwell Banker Independent Sales Associate or employee who has demonstrated the highest standards of service, productivity, teamwork and leadership.

We recently caught up with Dan to learn what makes him so successful in the real estate industry and what his life is like outside of the office.

Congratulations on winning the President’s Award at the Utah Awards event! How does this accomplishment feel?

I’m ecstatic to have been selected by our company president, Chris Jensen, for the President’s Award for 2015. I feel honored to have been chosen from over 650 agents and several wonderful employees who have demonstrated the great qualities that this award embodies.

What makes this award a special recognition for you?

The President’s Award is a special award to me since it is based on giving back to our company and to the real estate industry at large. When Chris presented me with this award, he mentioned that he selected me because of my dedication to our company and profession. He specifically discussed the training and mentoring I provide to the many Independent Sales Associates in our offices.

What would you say is the recipe for success in the real estate field?

The secret to success in real estate is putting the needs of your clients above your own, and being willing to work hard.  Although real estate is a simple business, it is not an easy business.  Successful agents are dedicated, respectful and hardworking.

What do you like most about working in Utah’s real estate market?

I love Utah, and I love helping my clients find their own piece of Utah to call home.  With easy access to mountains, lakes, trails, and National Parks, we are all lucky to be able to call Utah home.

What does your typical day look like?

One of the best things about being a real estate agent is that every day is different and there is no such thing as a typical day.  I usually show at least a few homes each day, and some days I show homes all day.  I also spend a great deal of time negotiating with other Sales Associates, developing marketing materials, and processing contract paperwork.  I love the variety that real estate affords me.

Other than selling properties, what is another passion of yours?

My family is my greatest priority, and I enjoy spending time with them.  I make time to attend my kids’ school programs and sporting events.  We love to travel as a family and one of our favorite spots to visit is Disneyland.

Describe your perfect weekend.

My perfect weekend would be spent with family in the wonderful mountains of Utah, riding snowmobiles during the day, and gathering around the roaring fireplace at night.

What makes living in Utah a unique experience?

Utah is the best place to live because we are able to enjoy all four seasons, some of the best national parks in the world, access to unlimited outdoor recreation, and we have the most friendly and wonderful people on earth.  I just can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Some of Dan’s areas of expertise include pre-market home staging and design, short sales, bank-owned and investment properties, relocation, and many more.
