Get to Know ‘Radiant Orchid’ – Decorate with Pantone’s 2014 Color of the Year

Every year Pantone, the global color authority, selects a color that they believe will become a major design trend. Whether they predict this or dictate it is hard to say, but they’ve laid down the gauntlet and the color for 2014 is Radiant Orchid, a purple hue with fuchsia and pink undertones.

Chances are you haven’t thought of incorporating purple into your home’s décor, but it might just be the perfect color to spruce up your living space. Described as “a captivating, magical, enigmatic purple,” Radiant Orchid is said to inspire confidence and emanate great joy, love and health – three qualities that also come to mind when describing or thinking about one’s home.

Feeling bold? Paint the walls. Not ready for that much purple in your life? Try accent pieces and accessories. Radiant orchid is a lovely complement to olive and deeper greens, turquoise, teal, yellow, gray, beige and taupe.
